Mazeपुणे

Privacy policy

This explains what MazePune keeps about you, why, who can see it and how to remove it. It is written in plain words on purpose. MazePune is run by volunteers as an independent civic platform and is not part of any government body.

What we collect

  • A random device code. It is created in your browser the first time you use the site and is stored with what you send (a report, “I saw this too”, a count of your visit). It is not your name, phone number or email, and we never ask for those to report.
  • What you report: the photo, the exact spot (GPS, taken only when you tap “Use my location”), the issue type and severity, and any landmark or details you type. The photo is re-encoded in your browser before upload, which removes EXIF data including its GPS tags.
  • Photos you send to verify a fix, flag a report or give a clearer view. A moderator sees them first; only approved ones are published.
  • Anonymous usage counts: one visit per device per day and one view per device per report. No IP address or location is stored for this.
  • If you register a volunteer community: the name, area, description and links you type, and an optional contact email that is never shown publicly.

Why we use it

  • To show a civic problem on a public map and to email the officials responsible for that spot.
  • To limit spam and fake reports (one confirmation per device, a daily cap per spot) and to let you find your own reports on this phone.

Who can see it

  • Everyone: a report, its photo, its exact spot, its status and the timeline of emails and replies are public. So are confirmations as a count.
  • Officials: the people named on a report page are emailed the report’s details and a link to its photo, in the order shown on the page.
  • Services that run the site (they see your IP address when your browser contacts them): Google Firebase (database, hosting, functions), Google reCAPTCHA through Firebase App Check (keeps bots out, may set its own cookies), OpenFreeMap with OpenStreetMap data (map tiles), and photon.komoot.io (place search: it receives the text you type in the search box). Searching for a ward, area or representative stays on your device.

What stays on your phone

Your device code, the list of reports you filed, confirmed or follow, your language choice, a half-written report with its photo (deleted after 6 hours), and the last map data so the site opens quickly or offline. Use “Forget this device” below to remove all of it.

How long we keep it

A report stays on the public map until it is removed after review or at your request. Usage counts are kept as counts. You can ask for a report you filed to be removed at any time, see the contact below.

Your choices

  • Ask us to correct or remove something about you or a report you filed: use the “Suggest a correction” button below and include the link. We answer as set out in the Terms.
  • Do not photograph faces, children or number plates. If one appears in a public photo, tell us and we will remove or replace it.

Contact

Forget this device

Removes the random code, your list of reports and any unsent draft from this phone. Reports already filed stay public.
